The brief

Sell the day on the water, not just the slip.

BlueWater Marinas operates marinas in some of the East Coast’s most sought-after boating markets, each with its own water and its own customers.

The marketing team needed lifestyle content that shows what it feels like to keep a boat there, plus facility and operations coverage, in one visual style across every property. We planned each shoot around what that marina does best and captured photo, video, and drone in the same visit.

The Harbor at Lemon Bay film

Sunrise runs, sandbar afternoons, and the dry-stack crew, cut as a long-form marina film with horizontal social cuts and a vertical reel.

A boutique dry-storage marina near Manasota Key, with the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway minutes from the launch.

Directed talent ran the Intracoastal at sunrise and sunset, friends and their golden retriever took a pontoon to the sandbars, and the drone followed boats over turquoise shallows. On land, we covered the dry-stack experience: forklift launches, dockhands, fuel, and the ship store.

The Boathouse Marine Center film

A cast family and couple on the Intracoastal, the boat club fleet, and the service team, with couple, family, lifestyle, and operations cuts.

Indoor dry storage and a full-service department on the Intracoastal, a short run from the Atlantic, and home of the BlueWater boat club.

Big Wave ran a casting call, sent shortlists to BlueWater for approval, and booked a couple and a family. Wardrobe followed a palette of light blue, navy, white, and khaki, with BlueWater gear as props.

The family took the water first: cannonballs off the bow, golden-hour cruising, and the walk down the docks. The couple followed with dockside dining and the club fleet, then we moved inside to the technicians and the dry-stack barn.

Bayside Marine

Duxbury, Massachusetts

Film · 03

The Bayside family story

A three-and-a-half-minute legacy film built from interviews, archival photos, marina operations, and the cast lifestyle sessions on the bay, delivered alongside a marina film and two short cuts.

Family-run since 1949

The Kent family has run Bayside Marine on Duxbury Bay since 1949. BlueWater wanted a film that honored that history.

A scout set tides, light, and drone paths. Interview day captured the owners and longtime crew. When the forecast turned, we moved the lifestyle sessions up a day to beat the rain. Casting a local boating family meant a Massachusetts minor work permit and workers’ comp, confirmed before call time.

Behind the shoot

What goes into a lifestyle shoot.

Most of a lifestyle day happens before anyone steps on a boat. Big Wave handled the production so BlueWater’s team only had to approve choices.

  1. Plan

Creative brief, shot list, schedule, and call sheets built around the brand and the season.

  2. Cast

Casting calls, shortlists for client approval, booking, releases, and paperwork, including minors.

  3. Scout

Location scouting for tides, light, and drone flight planning, the day before the shoot.

  4. Style

Wardrobe direction, hair and makeup, and props chosen to match the brand.

  5. Direct

On-set direction for natural moments on land, on the water, and from the air, with weather calls made early.

  6. Deliver

Retouched photography, edited films, social cuts, and a catalogued clip library, revised with client feedback.

From footage to library

A video library for every channel.

We trimmed and color-corrected the strongest lifestyle, people, operations, and nature moments from all three marinas into one library the team can pull from for web, social, and ads. BlueWater asked for a focused selection. We delivered everything worth using.

In her words

“I hired Big Wave for one photo shoot, and it’s turned into many photo shoots.”

“Every time we come to a shoot, it’s fully prepared. There’s little that I need to do, and it’s just seamless. I’m never worried that I’m not going to get exactly what I need at the end of the day.”

Rebecca McMenemy · Director of Marketing, BlueWater Marinas

Questions

Lifestyle shoots, answered.

What does a lifestyle photo and video shoot include?

A full-service lifestyle shoot includes creative planning, casting, talent booking and releases, location scouting, hair and makeup, wardrobe and prop styling, on-set direction, photography, video, drone, and post-production. For BlueWater Marinas, each shoot also captured marina facilities and operations.

Do you handle casting and talent?

Yes. Big Wave writes and posts casting calls, shortlists talent for client approval, and books couples, families, and kids. We handle talent releases, contractor agreements, and paperwork for minors, including state work permits and insurance.

Do you provide hair, makeup, and wardrobe styling?

Yes. We arrange hair and makeup and wardrobe styling, set a color palette that matches the brand, and source props, from branded caps to marina gear, so talent looks natural and on-brand.

What happens if the weather turns?

We watch the forecast with you and make the call early. At Bayside Marine, we moved the on-water lifestyle sessions up a day to stay ahead of the rain without losing the interview schedule.
